The first deterrent to getting pregnant was my job. Once again, that pesky career got in my way of motherhood. I started a new job shortly after marriage; a job which allowed me to partially work from home.
I know sometimes I complicate things by interjecting too much ‘adult’ thinking and reasoning. What I really need to do is throw all the baggage of adulthood away and think like a toddler–I need to put myself in their tiny little shoes. I am finding that my toddlers are actually brilliant beings who have figured it all out and maybe, just maybe, I could learn a thing or two from them.
In just a few weeks my twins will turn one, and I will be 44. I am an older mom who thought I knew what I was getting myself into, but I am finally realizing that despite all the advice given to me and research I did on my own, I was truly not prepared.
